When it may fit

Our assessment of the published programs

  • Potential fit for eligible younger founders seeking startup or business-purchase financing with ongoing mentorship.

What to weigh carefully

  • Collateral-free does not establish freedom from personal repayment liability; clarify borrower and guarantor obligations.
  • A hard personal credit inquiry is required; this differs from soft-check prequalification at some commercial lenders.
  • Proceeds cannot refinance existing debt. Exclusions include gambling, recreational cannabis/tobacco and many financial-services businesses; consult the full list.
  • Futurpreneur and BDC have different approval and prepayment rules.

Questions before you accept an offer

  1. Does my startup stage qualify under the current program?
  2. Which owners must apply, and who is personally responsible?
  3. How is the approved amount split between Futurpreneur and BDC?
  4. What are both loans’ payments, fees and early-payoff amounts?
  5. What mentorship commitments and business-use restrictions apply?

Ask for written terms. Compare net cash received, total repayment, fees, payment timing and early-payoff costs for the same financing need.

BDC

Compare BDC’s separate programs if business maturity or financing needs differ; do not assume its standard loan criteria match the Futurpreneur partnership.
