Who lends it and what they look for

Chartered banks, credit unions and caisses populaires make Canada Small Business Financing Program loans of up to CA$1.15 million to businesses with revenue of CA$10 million or less, with the federal government sharing the lender's risk. You apply directly to a participating lender, and it makes the credit decision. Lenders look at your cash flow, the assets the loan buys, your personal credit and whether the purpose fits the program: equipment, property and leasehold improvements.
